Dhrishti’s take on Exercising in Summers:
“While you could spend the longer days at your local beer garden, the extra hours of daylight plus warmer mornings and evenings present a great opportunity to be more active and try new forms of exercise. Working out indoors is what most people prefer in summers, but going for a run or any sport / activity like swimming makes some great cardio too.
Exercising in the pleasant summer weather builds up enough momentum to get you through the colder months so you can stay leaner, healthier and energetic all year round. Take the opportunity to parlay the warm summer months into a healthier, more active lifestyle!”
..and her take on Diet in Summer
“With mercury levels rising up, drinking lots of water and switching to light and healthy foods ensures a cool mind and body. Try your best to overcome cravings for sugar-loaded junkies like rosy drinks to iced cold coffees and iced candies, and switch them with fresh summer fruits and vegetables.” (Sounds difficult? - Don’t be fooled by frozen yogurt
- Mind your chips and dips
- Go easy with ice creams and toppings
- Keep summer salads light
Foods to Speed Metabolism:
“Healthy summer weight loss means keeping things quick, easy and cool in the kitchen. Some delicious summertime choices that are high in nutrition and low in calories include almonds, beans, greens especially parsley and spinach, bell peppers and jalapeños, fruits (mainly berries), seeds such as chia seeds, cinnamon and apple cider vinegar.
Their high nutrient density gives you a filling meal while taking off the extra pounds. With antioxidants, vitamins, and phytonutrients these foods help your weight loss hormones leptin and adiponectin do their job of curbing appetite and getting your metabolism up to speed. Light and refreshing, these choices are perfect for when the temperature goes up.”
