Virat – It’s all in the name!

Barely in his teens then, there was this one cricketer, who was playing for Delhi against Karnataka. Suddenly he received the news of his father’s death. Without battling an eye, he completed his day, and then went for his father’s funeral.

He is the one who has been handed a 100 cr + deal with Puma, and will be sharing the dais with Usain Bolt. Yes, VIRAT KOHLI is an inspiration!

The current Indian sensation, the enfant terrible turned ably responsible, Kohli is re-writing the rule book of how cricket functions, with major emphasis on fitness.

Without elaborating much on this living legend, Virat Kohli is in a league of his own, with only Joe Root and Steve Smith contesting that numero uno position.

He is the best thing to have happened to Indian Cricket Team after probably Kapil Dev, because of his persona, where he pushes each of his teammate to perform their best.

Replications of a certain Imran Khan cannot be missed.

The greatest batsman of the game, Ricky Ponting has already said that Virat is better than Steve Smith, in One Day’s which is no mean achievement, because we all know how Steve Smith moulded himself from a fidgety player to one who places a valuable price on his wicket.

Virat shouldered the responsibility of being a young captain who was handed over the Test Captaincy at an early age, in a very controversial and hurried manner in between an all important series against Australia in December 2014.

Something tells me this feature of Virat is going to take him beyond Sachin Tendulkar’s reputation, because Sachin sheepishly relinquished captaincy when the team was in dire straits, paving the way for Sourav Ganguly (Aamar Dada) to lead, by saying that captaincy was “affecting” his batting.

As much as he wears his heart on his sleeve, Virat is as passionate off field as much as he is on his field. A fierce defender of the choice of his girlfriend Anushka Sharma, Virat verbally shot down critics when they blamed HER for HIS poor form. This ain’t college love, fellas.

We know the brilliance he has while chasing and timing the chase, but Virat is superb in defence mechanisms too in Tests when you need to kill time sometimes, and Rahul Dravid has vouched for this.

The technique and hand-eye co-ordination of a certain Virender Sehwag.

The tactical acumen of a certain Sourav Ganguly.

The defensive approach of a certain Rahul Dravid.

The work of the wrist of a certain VVS Laxman.

The legacy of a certain Sachin Tendulkar.

We have all that in a certain VIRAT KOHLI.
